ON SEEING A YOUNG LADY WITH VERY SHORT STAYS AND A WIDE
HOOP.
Says old grand-mother Alice to her grand-daughter Patty;
How immodest your dress, child! I wonder much at ye!
Those stays all the charms of your bosom disclose,
And your hoop shews your shape from your hips to your toes.
Pray make your stays taller, and cut your hoop less;
For as you go now, men have nothing to guess."
Says Miss, with a flirt, Lard! I value them not:
Let them blush who're asham'd, Ma'am, of what they have got.
